Ryan MacDonald has worked in sound, text, video and dramaturgy with choreographers Aretha Aoki, devynn emory Sara Juli and Vanessa Anspaugh. He is the author of the story collection The Observable Characteristics of Organisms (2014 FC2), the winner of the 2012 American Short(er) Fiction Award and a 2017 Bessie Award Nominee for “Outstanding Sound Design and Composition”. His work has been featured in venues such as New York Live Arts, Abrons Art Center, Judson, Danspace Project, Crossroads Gallery and more. He has developed a wide variety of animation and media art for artists like Tom Friedman, publishing companies such as Queen’s Ferry Press, and theater productions for Bowdoin College. Ryan has an MFA in Studio Art and an MFA in English from UMASS, Amherst.
